Traditional brick and mortar retailing is undergoing a revelation. A process many years in the making but forced dramatically by the reality of COVID19. Many independent retailers are looking at ways to share their passion with customers. In our case what started as a casual entrance into the world of alpaca farming soon became an opportunity to share our passion for retailing too! The little SHED shop in a converted chicken coop has become a destination in Prince Edward County and it is here that the magic of creating a lasting farm visit starts. As we create and produce more alpaca product we have dipped our toe into the on-line pool of marketing and retail via the world-wide-web. Alpaca is by nature a very hands-on, tactile experience difficult to translate to an on-line experience, but in the last several months we have created a website that complements our farm setting and attempts to convey that farm-visit experience. In addition to highlighting our range of products, we introduce you to our alpacas in the “farm-to-Yarn” collection. We’ve made it easier to shop for yourself or purchase gifts with a check-out that offers options and discounts to complement your purchases and in the coming months we will introduce our 24/7 farm-cam where you can watch our herd of alpaca any time of the day. As the holidays approach we begin introducing our fall collection and our newly curated collection of Holiday Gift-Boxes. If you cant visit the farm and the SHED shop, check out our new website chetwynfarms.com. Our curb-side pick-up is always available too – find out more on the web site.
