Horse Rescue Happy Trails - Give the Gift of Giving
- Description
While on our farm you will notice three majestic senior horses moving from paddocks to pastures. Each of these horses has been rescued and are living out their final years with us.
Harley - Trained as a jumper, he developed an aversion to jumps and stopped short when presented with the “rails” (Never good for horse or rider!) His owner asked us to consider taking him as otherwise the horse was doomed. Over 20 years old, suffering now with arthritis but still loves his food and the companionship with other horses and the alpaca
Caprialto - This horse found its way to us when arthritis crippled his ability to appear in the dressage show ring. A gentle soul, he suffers from Cushing Disease - a common and debilitating ailment in senior horses, but like Harley - he eats well and luckily so - as he is on a substantial and expensive drug program.
HRH - The white horse of the three, is virtually blind (only 10% sight left) , and had to stop training long before expected. Luckily he is familiar with our pastures and paddocks and can find his way to and from the barn. He has the sweetest disposition despite his lack of eyesight, and like the others eats well - especially evening beat-pulp the “candy” for horses!
We are providing each horse with an end-of-life sanctuary and hope you will consider making a gift to our rescue program
