Chetwyn Farms was a host farm this year for the 2024 edition of Alchemy – The Artists Residency program that brings together artists with local farms and vineyards Alchemy is an Ontario-based artist residency built on four pillars: art, food, farm & community. Attracting artists from Canada and around the world, Alchemy's initiatives are led by artists Claire Tallarico and Tonia DiRisio. 2024 marks our 10th year of programming initiative
Planned to coincide with the Ontario Culture Days Festival held across Canada from September 20- October 13 – the Alchemy 2024 project involved artists collaborating and immersing day-to-day in Prince Edward County for a 2 week period. Their work is on display or permanently showing at participating farms and businesses in the County. Ontario Culture Days is an annual celebration of arts, culture and heritage taking place each fall across Canada. Each year the organizers work with all disciplines to produce a national festival that invites the public to participate for free!
We welcomed New York based visual and cinematic artist Michele Beck – who spent 2 weeks with us documenting life on our farm. The end result is an informative and creative look at the process of raising alpaca, preparing fleece for production and the steps involved to get to the finished product.
