Fall Workshops - Painting - Plein Air in the Spirit of the Group of Seven with Pamela Mayhew
- Description
Step into the landscape and paint it — in the tradition of Canada’s most celebrated artists.
Join award-winning abstract landscape artist Pamela Mayhew for a full-day Plein Air Painting Experience at Chetwyn Farms, offered in conjunction with the Autumn Reimagined: In the Spirit of the Group of Seven exhibition at The SHED Studio.
Much as Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven ventured into the wilderness to paint directly from nature, participants will step out of the studio and into the farm’s autumn landscape — sketching, observing, and painting in the open air under Pam’s expert guidance.
Saturday, September 12 · 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Through observation, sketching, and painting, you’ll discover the creative process that has inspired generations of Canadian artists. Pam will help you see shape, form, colour, and light within the landscape, then guide you in abstracting what lies before you into your own contemporary expression.
Whether you’re an experienced painter or a curious beginner, you’ll leave with a personal work, a deeper understanding of the land, and a new way of seeing the season.
What’s included:
- Full-day guided plein air painting session with Pamela Mayhew
- Access to the Autumn Reimagined exhibition at The SHED Studio
- Light refreshments provided — bring a picnic lunch/snacks to enjoy while painting
- End-of-day sharing and feedback session in the Studio Loft
What to bring:
- Your personal art supplies (oil or acrylic paints, brushes, panels or canvas)
