Basket Coiling; Repurposed Textiles with Lora Bertolo Saturday November 1 2025
- Description
Bio
Lora was raised in Toronto with her Italian immigrant parents. Her interest in textiles started young, while watching her mother sew. She then completed the Fashion Design degree program at TMU. With years of experience ranging from custom design wedding gowns to producing a knitwear collection, it was in 2020 when completing a Basket Coiling workshop with Ruth Woods that she found her calling within the textile industry. Basket coiling supports her values of sustainable and ethical fashion as well as satisfying her needs as a designer, maker and human.
Lora makes functional one of a kind bags and baskets using repurposed materials. Lora is passionate about teaching coiling as it is such a forgiving craft with endless creative options. She finds the process therapeutic and the more people repurposing textiles the better. Her work can be found at Craft Ontario Shops.
