“The Cottage” - Alpaca Farm-Stay Experience. PEC ST-2019-0018

Our second visit to The Cottage at SHED Chetwyn Farms was a pleasure from start to finish.

Life on the farm moves with its own quiet rhythm and it was a simple joy for us to become part of the daily routine. The alpacas and horses emerged from the barn as we ate our breakfast. As the day passed, we sat on the screened porch enjoying the cicadas and passing clouds. We popped out for a tasty lunch and glass of wine at the nearby wineries in the heart of The County's VQA region. At night we slept deeply under a green canopy of stars where the loudest sound was the treefrogs. The Cottage is the perfect getaway for the city-weary.

Everything from our hosts' warm welcome to the lovely, comfortable and spacious accommodations made for a memorable visit to The County. We will definitely be coming back.

Every since we learned about the possibility of renting the cottage (which looks exactly the same in person as in the photos on the website), we've wanted to stay on this tranquil farm on a quiet country road near Hillier. We had been drawn by the opportunity to help out with the alpacas and horses. This we did, under the surveillance of Walter the wonder dog, the barn cats Calico Kevin, Pekoe and Marshmallow, and under the guidance of our hosts, Ted and Shauna, who are friendly and gracious without being intrusive, as others have noted. While we were still able to visit to our favourite restaurants (e.g., Wellington is only 10 minutes away by car), we also slowed down and enjoyed the spectacular views and quiet ambience of the farm during this perfect week. We will be back again next summer!

I have wanted to stay at this farm since I became aware of it and I was not disappointed. Everything is lovingly maintained, quiet, comfortable and visually pleasing. Shauna and Ted are so thoughtful and friendly. They presented us with a beautiful home-baked cake on our arrival (which was delicious and gone by the time we left!). The beds are comfy as is the kitchen and living area. You could easily have 6 people staying in this space and there would be room for everyone. It's a venue with lots of seating in many rooms, something I appreciate when I like to be on my own. The bucolic view of alpacas and horses is delightful in all weather. And, of course, there's SHED, the shop (open in summertime, online otherwise), that sells many elegant things of the fiber variety. I will most definitely return.

The Cottage is elegant and cozy. My sister said it best “cozy on steroids”. The property was super clean and we were delighted with the “extras” that were there for us. The owners of this bit of heaven, Ted and Shawna, were warm and welcoming and readily available to steer us toward the delights of Prince Edward County. Evelyn Eaton, Hamilton, ON

Spent a few days recently at the Chetwyn Farms Cottage - it was a wonderful stay!! The Cottage is a very charming country home with all the modern conveniences. Hanging out at the farm was also great fun. Our teenage daughter enjoyed helping out with the horses and alpacas at the barn. The hosts were very kind and welcoming. We’re looking forward to visiting again - highly recommended.
